[regression] : 8.0-BETA3 (and BETA2?) acpi_hpet0 fails on TYAN H2000M

Hello,

I have a regression with acpi_hpet on a Tyan H2000M MB :

  acpi_hpet0: <High Precision Event Timer> iomem 0xfed00000-0xfed03fff on acpi0
  acpi_hpet0: HPET never increments, disabling
  device_attach: acpi_hpet0 attach returned 6
  [twice]

it exists at least since Aug16 sources (I just looked at
the 'netif' problems on this board which BTW are indeed fixed
by recent flowtable init changes)

I dug up an old email from March of this year when it worked OK :

  FreeBSD 8.0-CURRENT #1: Sun Mar 1 23:38:34 CET 2009
    toor_at_siamesetwins:/usr/obj/raid1/bsd/src-current/sys/S3992
  ...
  Timecounter "ACPI-safe" frequency 3579545 Hz quality 850
  acpi_timer0: <32-bit timer at 3.579545MHz> port 0x508-0x50b on acpi0
  acpi_hpet0: <High Precision Event Timer> iomem 0xfed00000-0xfed003ff on acpi0
Timecounter "HPET" frequency 14318180 Hz quality 900

Googling learned me that this could be a BIOS issue, but I did
not touch the BIOS of this board since ages and the explicit
HPET-enable option in any case does not exist in mine.

I can choose between "ACPI Version Features" [ACPI v2.0, v1.0, v3.0]:
I use v2.0 and changing for v3.0 or v1.0 does not help.

I noticed this by 'vmstat -i' shortly after boot :

  cpu0: timer 20596 1872
  cpu1: timer 12896 1172
  cpu3: timer 12929 1175
  cpu4: timer 11137 1012
  cpu2: timer 11006 1000
  cpu5: timer 12835 1166
  cpu6: timer 12930 1175
  cpu7: timer 12930 1175

I can't remember ever have seen so low values (they used to
be around 1990 shortly after boot) which make me think this rather
recently stopped working.

Non-verbose dmesg below; let me know what I could provide as other info.

Thanx, Arno
