I tried your patch and see no regression on Xeon 50xx, 55xx, 54xx.
It also improved CPU detection on Xeon 54xx (as well as original
Junk-uk's patch).

It also improved CPU detection on Xen HVM _at_ Xeon 55xx _at_ 3 cores:
