Hi, after installation, I answered the various questions, configured the network and selected to "visit the ports collection". I selected a few packages and proceeded to install. This hanged sysinstall completely. The emergency shell was still work, but sysinstall could not be killed (even using -KILL) and pkg_add and related processes had a pid 0. It took about 15 seconds for the "Installing ... from acd0" message to turn up, and that also is the last thing I saw. I used VTY4 to reboot the machine and packages are now installing correctly from cd-rom. The only thing "odd" about this installation procedure, is that I left the machine running the base install, and came back roughly an hour later, so the cdrom wasn't used for at least > 30 minutes. This is an Asus PII-BS motherboard, one SCSI drive, one secondary master cd rom. As soon as I've got the machine up and running, I can send specifics, like dmesg.boot. Since I suspect this to be an ATA problem - if somebody from the ata team needs a specific command to be run, or hardware / bios config let me know. -- Melvyn ======================================================= FreeBSD sarevok.idg.nl 5.2-CURRENT FreeBSD 5.2-CURRENT #0: Wed Jan 28 18:01:18 CET 2004 root_at_sarevok.lan.webteckies.org:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/SAREVOK_NOAPM_NODEBUG i386 =======================================================
