I'm getting repeated panics. I'm a current newbie and am still working on building a debug kernel. In the meantime I'll post what I know. I'm using an unchanged GENERIC kernel on a single CPU machine. Not accessing the CD drive. I have only IDE drives (no SCSI) on this system. I've read most of the recent panic-related messages on this list and haven't seen my panic mentioned. uname -a FreeBSD mydomain.com 5.2-RC2 FreeBSD 5.2-RC2 #0: Mon Dec 22 07:23:48 GMT 2003 root_at_wv1u.freebsd.org:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/GENERIC i386 Here is the message, typed in by hand: start=0, len=2, fs=/mnt/mx01b panic: ffs_alloccg: map corrupted cpuid=0; syncing disks, buffers remaining... panic: bremfree: removing a buffer not on a queue cpuid=0; uptime: 4h27m7s shutting down ACPI auto reboot in 15 seconds ... This system is running a handful of user processes (~20) that are reading and writing many different files at the same time. One process periodically extracts the contents of a different zip file, containing around 1,000 files, every hour or so. Other processes are making heavy use of the net, downloading data, and storing files, as well as updating files. These panics were happening with 5.1, and have continued on a regular basis (every few hours or so) with 5.2. My installation was done using the CD ISO downloaded from the freebsd mirrors. I used the default UFS2 filesystem (except for the root partition, of course). Although I did it as a fresh install (not an update) it appears to have remembered some of my settings from 5.1. Not sure if all this is relevant; just trying to give as much information as I can. Recently I also got another panic, ffs_blkfree... I don't have the full message for that one though. I'm going through the FAQ item to see how to send more information to this list, but wanted to start out with this message while I work on that in the background. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
