Dmesg output breaking up.

What is it that causes the dmesg output to break after a while?

    jonah# dmesg
    ev/ttyp0
    pid 23007 (httpd), uid 80: exited on signal 11
    pid 61004 (perl), uid 0: exited on signal 11 (core dumped)

    jonah# uname -a
    FreeBSD jonah 5.2-RELEASE FreeBSD 5.2-RELEASE #5:
