Hi Peter, I also see similar LOR messages (w/ backtraces) from time to time on my FreeBSD 5.2-CURRENT system. I also use an SMP machine (2 AMD Athlon-MP 2100+ processors), I don't know if this is related to the problem or not. Anyways, if you discover any helpful information, I would be delighted if you'd share it. :) Thanks in advance, Mike >From: Peter Wood <peter_at_alastria.net> >To: freebsd-current_at_freebsd.org >Subject: FreeBSD 5.2C: LOR - 1st 0xca738038 filedesc structure >(filedescstructure) _at_ /usr/src/sys/kern/sys_generic.c:901 >Date: Mon, 26 Jan 2004 17:29:48 +0000 > >Good Evening, > >Checked nightly logs to discover that there had been two lock order >reversals >last night on my SMP 5.2C machine. > >They are listed as: > >lock order reversal > 1st 0xc7975dec vm object (vm object) _at_ /usr/src/sys/vm/swap_pager.c:1314 > 2nd 0xc0788d80 swap_pager swhash (swap_pager swhash) _at_ >/usr/src/sys/vm/swap_pager.c:1823 > 3rd 0xc1042738 vm object (vm object) _at_ /usr/src/sys/vm/uma_core.c:873 >Stack backtrace: > >lock order reversal > 1st 0xca738038 filedesc structure (filedesc structure) _at_ >/usr/src/sys/kern/sys_generic.c:901 > 2nd 0xc0752d80 Giant (Giant) _at_ /usr/src/sys/fs/specfs/spec_vnops.c:377 >Stack backtrace: > >The backtrace for the second LOR was thankfully still on screen, I've taken >a >screen shot and it can be located at: > >http://parallax.alastria.net/~peter/xenon-lor1.jpg > >I'm going to cvsup to current shortly, I'm interested in trying the new >schedular.
