Got identical errors this morning upgrading my two machines, one an AMD Athlon (i386), the other an AMD Athlon 64 (amd64). On the i386 box: cd /usr/src/etc/../share/man; make makedb makewhatis /usr/share/man makewhatis /usr/share/openssl/man rm -rf /tmp/install.ZajVOLR9 WARNING: Wrong block size on vnode: 0 should be 16384 Please email phk_at_FreeBSD.org this info : 0xc1793e70: tag ufs, type VDIR, usecount 1, writecount 0, refcount 0, flags (VV_ROOT|VV_OBJBUF), lock type ufs: EXCL (count 1 ) by thread 0xc159d840 (pid 16760) ino 2, on dev ad0s1e (4, 22) On the amd64 box: cd /usr/src/etc/../share/man; make makedb makewhatis /usr/share/man makewhatis /usr/share/openssl/man rm -rf /tmp/install.CIeDDZnN WARNING: Wrong block size on vnode: 0 should be 16384 Please email phk_at_FreeBSD.org this info : 0xffffffff0018b3e3c0: tag ufs, type VDIR, usecount 1, writecount 0, refcount 0, flags (VV_ROOT|VV_OBJBUF), lock type ufs: EXC L (count 1) by thread 0xffffff0018bb0240 (pid 15682) ino 2, on dev ad0s1e (4, 22) After jotting this information down, I repeated the command where the error occured (cd /usr/src/etc/../share/man; make makedb) on each machine, this time without error. Both machines are UP boxes using SCHED_ULE and ACPI. Let me know if any additional info may be helpful to you. -- Conrad J.
