Hi, running 5.2.1 nicely on HP compaq nx9005. This laptop has onboard LAN, 
firewire, DVD ROM/CD-Writer, USB 2.0 but also old style serial, parallel and 
floppy drive.

Soundcard works fine, gfx card needs X Server better than XFree86 4.3, I am 
running 4.3.99. Only the built in wavelan card is not supported, but have not 
yet tried to use ndisulator (Project Evil).

You might use the PowerNow kernel modul from http://poupinou.org/cpufreq/bsd/
because runnung the cpu on highes speed is not preferable (temp, noise, 
battery life time), but see this bice howto for FreeBSD on this Laptop:
