I've been running portupgrade -f on my ports after updating my system from 5.2-RELEASE to 5.2-CURRENT. Most of them are done but I was doing a portupgrade -f p5-XML-Parser but it ended badly: ... ===> Registering installation for p5-XML-Parser-2.34_1 ===> Cleaning for libtool-1.3.5_2 ===> Cleaning for perl-5.8.2_5 ===> Cleaning for expat-1.95.7 ===> Cleaning for p5-XML-Parser-2.34_1 ---> Cleaning out obsolete shared libraries Cannot allocate memory Hmm, so I went to try it again: # portupgrade -f p5-XML-Parser ** No such package 'p5-XML-Parser' is installed. Hmm, ok let's install it: # portinstall p5-XML-Parser ** The following packages were not installed or upgraded (*:skipped / !:failed) ! textproc/p5-XML-Parser (negative string size (or size too big)) Hmm, maybe we can start with the package and upgrade it from there: # pkg_add -r p5-XML-Parser Fetching ftp://ftp.freebsd.org/pub/FreeBSD/ports/i386/packages-5-current/Latest/p5-XML-Parser.tbz... Done. pkg_add: package 'p5-XML-Parser-2.34' or its older version already installed Hmm, ok, let's force the port install: # portinstall -f p5-XML-Parser ** The following packages were not installed or upgraded (*:skipped / !:failed) ! textproc/p5-XML-Parser (negative string size (or size too big)) Hmm, ok, let's get some help: (feel free to fill in this space!) Thanks, WayneReceived on Sat Mar 20 2004 - 09:01:12 UTC
