My Thinkpad T40 just freeze after printing "sio0: type 8250 or not
responding." I have to backout sys/dev/acpica/acpi_pci_link.c to 1.14
partially(along with the "allow initial IRQ as valid one" hacks) to make
-CURRENT booting again.

Same shutdown/reboot problem happened on the Thinkpad T40....
