So far, I can reproduce by putting

snd_driver_load="YES"

in /boot/loader.conf. Without, it works fine. Same kernel, etc.

uname -a:
FreeBSD laptop.ghostmrami.com 5.3-RC2 FreeBSD 5.3-RC2 #0: Sun Oct 31 11:16:55
EST 2004     mrami_at_laptop.ghostmrami.com:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/LAPTOPOLDCARD
i386

Caught this as I was shutting down... when a process gets hung I cannot shut
down cleanly:
# kgdb -v -d /var/crash/ -n 3 /usr/obj/usr/src/sys/LAPTOPOLDCARD/kernel.debug
kgdb: core file: /var/crash//vmcore.3
