I've tested sound thoroughly on my ICH3M system (T23) and it works exactly the same before and after suspend. I had a problem about a year ago where it would hang and stop delivering interrupts a short time after playing music after resume but that was fixed by Warner's pci power commit. I haven't tested the R32 sound after resume but will check it. It's probably similar to your R40 so it may exhibit the same problem.
