Yes, apparently ntpd on 5.X is recent enough.

Would it then make more sense to add "-g" to the
default ntpd_flags in /etc/default/rc.conf ?

And at the same time discourage the use of ntpdate
in /etc/rc.conf, since that seems to be in
conflict with other services starting up at boot?
