Hi, tried to install FreeBSD 6.0-BETA2 on my Acer TravelMate 290 laptop (model 292LCMi if I recall correctly), but it dies with a page fault when loading the kernel. I can get to the boot loader prompt, the page fault occurs during hardware probe for USB controllers. I know there's been issues installing 5.x on these laptops, and I have not been able to install 5.3 or 5.4 on it. With 6.0-beta2 I tried with "Legacy USB support" enabled and disabled in BIOS, and by en/disabling ACPI from the boot loader prompt, but to no avail. Following message appears (I copied this by hand so typos might exist): Fatal trap 12: page fault while in kernel mode Fault virtual adress: 0x7dc2 Supervisor read, page not present Instruction pointer: 0x20:0xc00c9cc5 Stack pointer: 0x28:0xc10209ec Frame pointer: 0x28:0xc10209ec Code segment: base 0x0 limit 0xfffff type 0x1b DPL 0 pres 1 def 321 gran 1 Processor eflags: interrupt enabled, resume IOPL=0 Current process: OT(swapper) Tread pid 0 tid 0 Stopped at 0xc00e9xx5 cmpb %cs: 0x1 (%esi), %bl db> tr pid 0 tid 0 0xc091d620 kernbase(x00fc922, c00fe920, c07f4db5, a0b, e9) at 0xc00e9cc5 end(cb9d08c4, c4f6ec8b, 81067540, ffffe5, e67f2400) at 0xc1020a44 --VilleReceived on Fri Aug 12 2005 - 06:26:09 UTC
