gdb problem when attaching to processes

hi,

I have strange problem with gdb:

queeg500 src# ps ax | grep inet
 1971  ??  Is     0:00.01 /usr/sbin/inetd -wW -C 60
 2058  p0  R+     0:00.00 grep --color inet

rc# gdb

is it my fault or gdb's? I see this on 5.4R and 7-c... ie. pretty everywhere
