Just tried turning off ACPI in the BIOS - and that seems to work, so I expect ACPI_ENABLE=NO will too. But then power control goes out the window. I wonder what it is that Linux's reboot=b kernel switch does that leave ACPI active, but allows a reboot to work properly.
