I also have a Dell Inspiron and I have trouble with cardbus in current 
since Jan 2006.

If I wind the version of the Cardbus module back to a date < December 
29, 2005 the problem goes away. Otherwise, I get the problem you describe.

I use Cardbus for a wireless card.
