I tried cross-builds before without problems. This was
2 or 3 months ago on a i386. I haven't tried it on a
amd64 machine though. Other than that, I'm not aware
of any problems as I just finished a native powerpc
build with a fresh source tree.

Was this a -jX build by any chance?
