Well, a quick grep -r tells me that the only
references to "mskc" are in:
/usr/src/sys/dev/msk/if_msk.c
I don't know enough to know if this is:
a) harmless
2) related

As far as Xorg freezing, have you tried editing
your xorg.conf to use something like:
Section "Device"
  Identifier "Card1"
  Driver "vesa"
EndSection

and then changing
Section "Screen"
  Device "Card0"
to read
  Device "Card1"
?

If that works (albeit you likely won't get resolution
over 1024x768 and it will be slow) then . . . oh, hell,
I don't know enough to really help, but the results
might be enlightening to someone.
