problems with perl 5.8.8

Since doing a recent build world, I've started seeing problems like this
with perl:
# perl
/libexec/ld-elf.so.1: /usr/local/lib/perl5/5.8.8/mach/CORE/libperl.so: Undefined symbol "__divdi3"

Is this an error in the way i've done the build, perl or something else?
