Perhaps this > should be the default for now? Thanks for reporting this. I've looked into GCC Bugzilla to see if it is a known bug or if it has been resolved in newer versions of GCC, but no luck. I think it would be better to disable SSP for FreeBSD/ppc indeed. I will manage to get this committed.
