I had a similar problem with r181987 on the Intel DQ965GF desktop board (http://www.intel.com/products/desktop/motherboards/dq965gf/dq965gf-overview.htm) 1 or 2 weeks ago, and 'hw.pci.mcfg=0' helped to resolve the freeze on booting.
