Working fine in VMware:
atapci0: <Intel ATA controller> port 0x1f0-0x1f7,0x3f6,0x170-0x177,0x376,0x10c0-
0x10cf at device 7.1 on pci0
ata0: <ATA channel 0> on atapci0
ata0: [ITHREAD]
ata1: <ATA channel 1> on atapci0
ata1: [ITHREAD]
...
ada0 at ata0 bus 0 scbus0 target 0 lun 0
ada0: <VMware Virtual IDE Hard Drive 00000001> ATA/ATAPI-4 device
ada0: 33.300MB/s transfers (UDMA2, PIO size 8192bytes)
ada0: 20480MB (41943040 512 byte sectors: 15H 63S/T 16383C)
cd0 at ata1 bus 0 scbus1 target 0 lun 0
cd0: <NECVMWar VMware IDE CDR10 1.00> Removable CD-ROM SCSI-0 device
cd0: 33.300MB/s transfers (UDMA2, PIO size 8192bytes)
cd0: Attempt to query device size failed: NOT READY, Medium not present

Copied a bunch of data between my regular mpt hosted disk and this one, as well as the cd, and eveything seems to be working just fine. I did not test performance, but I did not notice any problems.
