If you're able to test with this change on such an adapter, please let me know whether or not it works for you and which controller and firmware you have. If the driver is going to fail with this change, it should happen at attach time. (Make sure you still have a kernel without the change saved away.) If it does fail, please test with the patch at http://people.freebsd.org/~emaste/patches/aac_fwstatus_new_comm.diff and let me know if that fixes it.
