This is what wlans_zyd0="wlan0" is supposed to do, so did you reboot after 
adding this to rc.conf and/or run /etc/rc.d/netif restart?
If so, add rc_debug="YES" to /etc/rc.conf, then run /etc/rc.d/netif restart 
and post output.
