i just downloaded the following file: http://svn.freebsd.org/base/head/etc/Makefile. it doesn't differ with the file i have in /usr/src/etc. might your version of etc/Makefile be different from the one in svn? is the output of `svn diff src/etc/Makefile` null? cheers.
