Host OS (OS X 10.6.1) panic when booting 8.0-RC2 in VirtualBox 3.0.10

Hello,

I have been experiencing reproducible kernel panics in Mac OS X 10.6.1
when booting 8.0-RC1 and -RC2 (amd64) in a VirtualBox VM.

I had a (mostly pristine) 7.2-RELEASE running in this VM and tried to
upgrade to 8.0-RC2 with freebsd-update. after the second
freebsd-update install and reboot, when the loader tries to load the
kernel, it fails

a) if I select boot with ACPI, it stops with "ACPI autoload failed -
no such file or directory"
b) if I select boot without ACPI, the host OS panics (grey screen of death).

This is reproducible and independent of whether hardware
virtualization (VT-x) is active or not.

I remember having the same problem with -RC1, but did not follow up on
that and instead reverted to a snapshot of the VM just before the
upgrade due to lack of time then.

VBox.log for both cases and the OS X panic report are attached.

I have created a ticket in the VirtualBox bugtracker for this [1]

I will try a clean installation now.

Suggestions are welcome...

thx, Matthias
