Can't build devel/git on -CURRENT?

I've tried adding
   CONFIGURE_ENV+=  CHARSET_LIB=-lcharset
to the port Makefile, but still no joy:

$ cd /usr/ports/devel/git
$ make
…..
libgit.a(gettext.o): In function `git_setup_gettext':
gettext.c:(.text+0x4f): undefined reference to `locale_charset'
gmake: *** [git-daemon] Error 1
*** Error code 1

Stop in /usr/ports/devel/git.
*** Error code 1
