I might have misled you on this, or maybe it's because I updated to r235705, but I can't boot in multi-user mode without the patch. If I build an unmodified kernel, and just add 'hw.pci.enable_io_modes=0' to /boot/loader.conf and try to boot in multi-user mode, I still get error stated in the subject line.
