A big pitfall :-( I was asking me, why that happened (for the 1st time) and investigated one of the older boot keys which I always produce nearly the same way to pollute other hardware with new systems/kernels... I always compile/install world and kernel into some DESTDIR and make from that a bootable USB key with the script /usr/src/release/amd64/make-memstick.sh The fundamental mistake I did this time was having the src and obj below /usr/home/guru/r285885/[src|obj] and not below /usr/local/..../[src|obj]. This way the .depend files contain references to /usr/home/... and to /home/... files, which will not work if /home does not exist as a sym link to usr/home Lesion learned. matthias -- Matthias Apitz, ✉ guru_at_unixarea.de, http://www.unixarea.de/ ☎ +49-176-38902045 No!
