We ($WORK) factor the cost of DOA/warranty drives into our operational budget. They never get RMAed. We drill them when they die. Can only second that. One of the reasons why we work with hardware vendors that offer Keep-your-drive warranty. That way, we get to keep the broken drive and still get them RMA'ed.
