I strongly expect that the official snapshot would boot based on this alternate QEMU_EFI.fd as well, but I've not tried that combination. The boot still gets: usb_needs_explore_all: no devclass during the boot but it does not hang after that message. I have not gotten networking going in FreeBSD in the quick try that I made. So I still do not have a /usr/src in place to try with a buildworld buildkernel .
