It's a pity that KDE4 is unmaintained (upstream and in FreeBSD) because it does fine for me and many others for many years. From time to time I have to use KDE5 at work on SUSE Linux workstations and it's rather strange to use this as a C(K)ommon Desktop Environment, to be honestly. That's why I see a lot of mails and PR, for example https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=233182 expressing the same. Anyway, I will try to get it compiled based on your hint, and if not either return to a September version or switch to KDE5.
