No. I don't use esound, artsd, or any other sound daemon. Just straight mpg123 (built without esound). It mostly works fine, except under heavy loads (buildworld or huge port builds), or when text is scrolling in certain apps (interrupt problems?), in which case it either slows down, breaks up, or both. So, I think the problem runs a bit deeper than suggested.
