No.  acpi doesn't cause the panic.  It happens with and without acpi
enabled.  The problem is that it happens often enough that I don't
have the energy to deal with other issues just yet.  I'm hoping that
doing three forced fsck in a row helped, but I fear that since it
didn't fix anything that the issue is kernel no filesystem.

My batteries are getting bad enough that I really need the
suspend/resume feature to start working again.
