802.11g PCMCIA card mode

Hi,
I have Proxim Orinoco 802.11b/g card, Atheros 5212. I need set ad-hoc mode 
(ifconfig ath0 mode 11g mediaopt adhoc), but it doesn't work. Is it supported this mode?
