Anyone else seeing solid hangs under load on SMP?

I have a dual P3 box that does a make release every
night for me, and always dies during it. Running the
same script during the day it never hangs, just
during the night, probably pushed over the edge by
the periodic scripts added load. No output on console,
sending a break does nothing, it hangs solid.
