Correctness goes before speed and I'd rather we have a single way by which we generate the dependencies correctly and worry about speed later than have a default that's not going to work in some cases so that we have to tell people about the hidden magic *after* their builds have been failing. Before you know it you'll be stuck in a discussion about whether __SAFE_MKDEP should be default.
