If you trawl the archives you'll find the answer.  I know 'cos that's where
it was posted when I asked about it.  I'd post, but my laptop isn't around
right now :)

>From memory you want to set the sysctl variable "hw.acpi.lid_switch_state"
to zero, but I wouldn't put too much money on that.
