I'm trying to load FreeBSD on this (new) system -- 4.9 and 5.2 (release,
not current). As something of a test case, I also loaded XP pro on it.
It obviously isn't working yet and I'm starting the process of figuring out
why.

The system works well enough to load, boot and install 4.9 and 5.2. I
can't get it to stay up long enough to recompile the OS (dies during
buildworld). When the system dies, it tends to freeze or reboot. Once, it
looked like it may have double-faulted (haven't chased that one down yet).

I tried a few things. I tested with APIC and HT disabled. Under 5.2, I
booted up with various options (safe, default, and APIC disabled). The
safe mode was where I saw what looked like the double-fault.

Given the double-fault, I figured that I might have some bad memory. I
tried changing the timings a bit and then ultimately ran the Memtest86 ISO
and let it run for a few hours and it didn't find any problems with the
default settings.

XP hasn't had any problems, but it really hasn't had any kind of workout
comparable to the buildworld.

IRQs are a little shared, but I don't know where the pitfalls are there.

Anybody had previous experience with this hardware or care to steer me at
anything? Left to my own devices, I'm going to try and get it to lock up
(rather than reboot) and see if it'll tell me where. All but one of the
lockups seemed pretty hard (no response from keyboard, not even buffering).
