Under further exploration, it appears the mirror feature requires driver
support. The FreeBSD driver does not offer this at this time. The latest
linux driver has special considerations for RAID volumes, which involves
knowing about the underlying devices, and thats not a good sign.

I don't get any panics when the mirror is not configured.
