Hi, I could not find my solution in the list archieves. I could not decide which list to post. I am directed this list after I post to stable, so here it goes. I can not boot with very recent sources. I have FreeBSD 5.3-BETA2 #0: Tue Aug 31 22:36:53 EEST 2004 sources with cvsup. This kernel locks during boot, before mounting disks, and most probably during identification of disks. BETA1 was locked previously, too. By "lock" I mean first main console freeze, after several seconds keybord lights freeze. Keyboard does not work. Screen stays same. Only reset from case or re-cycling the power helps. There is no core dump or log. Below is the output of the screen of a verbose boot: After initializin "lo0" there is two times below paragraph and system locks: --- ata0: reinit channel .. ata0: reset tp1 mask=03 ostat=50 ostat1=50 ata0-master: stat=0x50 err=0x01 lsb=0x00 msb=0x00 ata0-slave: stat=0x10 err=0x01 lsb=0x14 msb=0xeb ata0: reset tp2 stat0=50 stat1=10 devices=0x9<ATAPI_SLAVE,ATA_MASTER> ata0: resetting done .. --- I have VIA chipset mainboard with onboard display. Mainboard model is: P4MAC-MLB or P4MAC-M I am not quite sure about it at the moment. It is an AZZA mainboard. North bridge is VIA P4M266A, Southbridge is VIA VT8235. I/O Chipset is Winbond W83697HF. I do not have this problem with my old kernel "FreeBSD 5.2-CURRENT #0: Thu Jul 1 22:40:57 EEST 2004" with same hardware. Yesterday, I tried again with 3 Sept 2004 evening sources. Now, I read "BETA3" during boot. Same problem persists. Hope above helps to find the problem. Regards, Ertan KucukogluReceived on Sun Sep 05 2004 - 18:32:35 UTC
