OK, I have applied your patch to 5.4-Stable as of
yesterday.

This is on a dual-homed router + NAT, with on the
private network seven PCs (5x Windows + 2x FreeBSD).

The router seems to operate fine under polling mode,
although I don't know how to test this in more detail.

Here's the output of 'ifconfig':

xl0:
 flags=18843
   <UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST,POLLING>
   mtu 1500
 options=49<RXCSUM,VLAN_MTU,POLLING>
 inet 167.42.40.110 netmask 0xffff0000 broadcast
   167.42.255.255
 ether 00:00:60:10:30:20
 media: Ethernet autoselect (100baseTX <full-duplex>)
 status: active
xl1:
 flags=18843
   <UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST,POLLING>
   mtu 1500
 options=49<RXCSUM,VLAN_MTU,POLLING>
 inet 10.0.0.1 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast
   10.0.0.255
 ether 00:00:00:80:50:40
 media: Ethernet autoselect (100baseTX <full-duplex>)
 status: active

Regards,
Rob.
