Ok, I'll get to this momentarily.

One thing, though, before going in to the whole ehci VS uhci thing.

The only reason I bring this up is that I have 5.  4 attached as
uhci0-3, and then the ehci0 "meta-bus", making 5.  I certainly will try
disabling ehci as you have suggested, but I'm wondering now whether that
would tell me anything useful with regards to ehci being out of the
equation as opposed to now only having 4 busses for usbd(8) to deal with?
