Not to pour cold water on your rant here, but the actual reason Perl was
removed from the base was that it was a major pain to maintain as part of
our bmake infrastructure, and the benefits of having it in the base didn't
even come close to the costs.

Now back to the regularly scheduled "angels dancing on the head of a pin"
argument.
