pccard flash card reader - no longer works

I've been using the same card reader for ages, with various cf cards. 
Yesterday, I noticed it no longer works.  I know it worked around March 
3rd-ish.  Here's what I get:

The flash card works fine if I plug it in via a USB<->CF adapter.
