On my laptop I am also having issues with the recognition of pcmcia
cards.
Many weeks ago I tried several cards and 16-bit (pccard) cards worked
but 32-bit ones (cardbus) did not.
Thanks to a thread on mobile_at_ I was able to get those cards being
recognized by changing the subbus number with pciconf.
However this only worked with a 7-current kernel from january. With a
recent one _nothing_ happens when I insert a card (16 or 32 bit) into
the slot. No kernel message, no cracks from the speaker, nothing...

Does someone has an explanation for this? Is it related to Michael's
problem?

Attached you find both kernel's dmesg outputs.
