I have a Asus P5K-E/WiFi with a DVDR <LITE-ON DVDRW LH-20A1S/9L08>.

I have heard that blank CD's during boot will prevent booting.

I have seen similar messages on my work computer with a different SATA
DVD drive.

I can get other warnings with:
dd if=/dev/acd0 of=/dev/null bs=10M count=1
