Maybe completely unrelated to your problem. But anyway ...

I have experience with random hardlocks when starting (and only when
starting) Xorg on HP Compaq nx7300 laptop (agp0: <Intel 82945GM (945GM
GMCH) SVGA controller> on vgapci0). It happens also with agp and dri
disabled - ie running Xorg with vesa driver, so it doesnt look
hardware dependent to me.

I cant do really anything to debug this problem. I dont know 100% how
to reproduce hardlocks, it looks completely random to me, but somehow,
my experience is that UP kernel have much less probability to
hardlocks.

This started to happen around March this year :) on CURRENT.
