Sorted it out, this host runs sendmail as outbound only, and default sendmail_submit_flags makes it bind only to 127.0.0.1, so adding -ODaemonPortOptions=Family=inet6,Addr=::1 there solved the problem (it wasn't obvious from the sendmail's behaviour).
